The plastic trainer scissors
They were never engineered to shear paper. Retailers say it plainly in their own category guidance: on trainer scissors the blades are usually duller and may be plastic or have rounded edges, so they may not work well and could pull or snag instead of cut. Your child pressed harder, the paper crumpled, and she decided she was bad at cutting.
Safety scissors suck on regular paper because it's flimsy.

The design failed, not her hand. Dull plastic cannot cut paper no matter who is holding it.
